My simple and effective morning routine to start your day off right.
I want to talk about my morning routine because it’s been really amazing lately. I’ve been doing this routine for a while now and it’s helped me start my day off right.
The first thing I do when I wake up is visualize my day.
I picture myself getting up, having breakfast, and going to where I need to be. This helps me get my mind ready for the day ahead.
Then, I open up my kegel app and do a set of kegels for the day. It’s such an easy first thing to do, and if you’re someone who struggles with getting going in the morning, this can really help. It’s healthy, quick, and easy. I do this while laying in bed with my eyes closed.
I check my Oura ring app to see how I slept and what my readiness score is. Then, I do an energizing meditation. This takes about 10 minutes and really helps me get in the right mindset for the day ahead. Sometimes the meditations will prompt me to set an intention or practice gratitude, which are both really helpful.
Next, I try to lay out my clothes the night before and have them in a pile right where I get dressed. This helps immensely because it cuts down on time spent choosing what to wear. I wear almost the same outfit every day, with slight variations, and I put it out on a chair. When I get dressed in the morning, I sit down in the same place. The predictability has helped me because I can visualize what it feels like to sit there, and it motivates me to get up and get dressed. I listen to the same morning podcast every day. It’s morning news, and it really helps me start my day off on the right foot.
If I can make any recommendation, it’s to do a workout or any sort of creative work first thing in the morning. This has helped me because otherwise, I would get stuck in admin tasks all day. Doing creative work first really sets my day up for success.
For breakfast, I kicked caffeine about 8 years ago and haven’t looked back since. I don’t need it to get going in the morning, and I feel the same without it. I do drink decaf coffee, which has a low amount of caffeine, but that doesn’t really affect me. I try to get protein in for breakfast, like eggs or Greek yogurt mixed with peanut butter and berries. I also like to pre-cook everything as much as I can, so I don’t have to spend too much time making breakfast.
That’s pretty much my morning routine. It’s simple but effective, and it helps me start my day off right. If you struggle with getting going in the morning, I highly recommend trying out some of these tips. They might just make a big difference in your day!
In 2023 my husband took a job in southern Italy and we moved our family from Austin, Texas to Bacoli, Italy near Naples. I’m a professional home organizer by trade, but now spend my days immersing myself and our little one in Italian culture and travel.
I believe a well-traveled life is as much about experiencing new things as it is a state of mind. I’m in a pursuit for the good life in all its forms. Here I share that pursuit and its innersection with real life.
